Arrested Muttur youths to appear in Courts

Six Tamil youths taken into custody by the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) from the welfare centre located in St.Antony's Church in Muttur division in Trincomalee district on March 31 midnight were handed over to the Muttur Police Wednesday. Muttur Police said they were to be produced before Muttur magistrate's court Thursday evening.
SLA had subjected the youths to severe interrogation during their detention in the Muttur SLA camp. Parents of the youths earlier registered complaints with the regional office of the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) and Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM), sources said. The arrested youths were identified as Arulnayagam Joseph Jesuthasan, 25, Sebastian Joseph Jebatheepan, 28, Pushparajah Pushpakanthan, 20, Muharasa Murali, 22, Prakash Sripaskaran, 28, and Selvanayagam Amalraj, 25.
