Jaffna University students want transfer

Seventy-five students from the Vanni region studying at the Jaffna University, have applied for transfer to the Batticaloa University. They are unable to attend the classes due to disruption in transport to and from Jaffna said university sources in the peninsula.

If all of them are granted transfer the number of students at Jaffna University will decline, they said.

All transport to and from Jaffna came to a standstill after the Lion Air flight, flying between Colombo and Jaffna, crashed in to the sea of Mannar on October 29.

Meanwhile the Civil Aviation Department said today that they were investigating the crash of the Lion Air flight.
