Displaced housed in schools

Ten schools in the Puthukudiyeruppu area of the Mullaithivu district, have been turned into welfare centres to accommodate the displaced refugees from the Oddusuddan area the Voice of Tigers (VoT) said.
One thousand seven hundred and seventy five families are in these welfare centres and many other displaced people have found accommodation with relatives and friends, the radio added. Many people who could not find places to stay in temples and public places, are staying in makeshift tents on the road side and under trees, the radio added. Fifteen thousand people were displaced from Oddusuddan and sought refuge in the Puthukudiyerppu area. The radio also said a child from the Maathalan village, admitted to the Puthukudiyeruppu hospital had died from cholera.
About 10 diarrhoea cases have been identified in the area and preventive measures are underway, the radio added.
