Grenade attack on SLA sentry post in Jaffna

Unidentified persons hurled a hand grenade Tuesday night on the Sri Lanka
Army (SLA) sentry post located close to Naavalar Veethi in Jaffna, and local residents had heard sounds of gunshots following the attack, sources in Jaffna said. Details are not known if anyone was killed or injured.
Meanwhile, clashes between unknown armed men and SLA troops took place Monday after midnight in Ma'ndaan area in Nelliyadi, Vadamaraadchi while there was heavy rain. Colombo SLA
media centre reported the clash claiming that SLA soldiers had recovered a
T56 rifle from the attackers who had attempted to infiltrate into
Vadamaraadchi from Thenmaraadchi. No information of any casualty or injury
in the above clash is available. Following the above incident SLA launched a cordon and search operation in
Karaveddi and Nelliyadi areas in Vadamaraadchi from Tuesday morning till the evening. No one was arrested in the search, according to local residents. On Saturday, unidentified gunmen shot and injured a civilian riding bicycle
along Kodikaamam-Kachchaay road in Thenmaraadchi. The injured was identified as Chelaiah Vijayarathinam, from Aayaththadi, Mirusuvil in Thenmaraadchi.
Vijayaratnam is being detained and interrogated by Kodikaamam police.
