Tigers list captured weapons

The VOT radio gave the list of weapons the Liberation Tigers captured from the SLA when they overran the army camp on the Polannaruwa - Valaichenai road last night.

The radio said that the attack began at 9.16 p.m last night and the camp was brought under the LTTE's control in 18 minutes and that 10 soldiers were killed, eleven wounded and the rest took to their heels.

The VOT said that only one in the LTTE's attack group, Lt. Theesanaathan (Kanapathippillai Navaratnam. Batticaloa) was killed in the assault on the camp.

The radio said that the captured weapons included 8 T-56 assaults, a LMG, and over 21000 rounds of ammunition for these. The Tigers also took away 88 60mm shells, 18 RPG shells, and 93 hand grenades as well as 10 pairs of binoculars and 4 radio sets.

The radio also said that Captain Senthoor (Rathinavadivel Rathakrishnan) was killed in an army round up in Sankanai in Jaffna. It did not give the date of the death.
