2 civilians wounded in Claymore attack in Madu

Two civilians were wounded when their water bowser was attacked by a Claymore mine inside the Liberation Tigers controlled area at Madu junction around 3:45 p.m. Friday. The water bowser was returning after supplying water to the personnel at LTTE Forward Defence Line in Madu.

LTTE details civilian killings by Sri Lankan forces and paramilitaries after Geneva Talks

0103 civilians, including six children, have been killed by Sri Lankan forces and its paramilitaries since Geneva Talks on 24 February untill April 27, according to a report issued by the Political Head Quarters of the Liberation Tigers Friday. 12 Tamil civilians were killed on February 27, March 5, 6, 9, 20, 22, 24, 25, and 28, and the first attack on SLA posts after the Geneva Talks in February took place on April 8th after the assasination of Trincomalee district Tamil activist Mr. V. Vigneswaran. "Readers can now make their own conclusion about who is responsible for deteriorating situation following the Geneva talks," the report issued by the LTTE concluded.

Stop violence, initiate dialogue, urges Rights Group

FORUM-ASIA, a membership-based human rights organization with regional secretariat based in Bankok Thailand in a press release issued Thursday espressed deep concern urged the Government of Sri Lanka and the Liberation Tigers to "immediately stop the violence and to iniitate dialogue." The release said, "War inevitably violates human rights and destroys human lives and this must be avoided at all costs. Civilians in the North and East as well as other parts of the country, particularly women and children, will bear the brunt of violence."

3 SLA troopers killed, 2 civilians missing after Claymore ambush

Three SLA soldiers who were on their way to Vallakkulam near Vankalai in Mannar district, were killed and three soldiers seriously wounded in a Claymore ambush around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, police sources in Mannar said. Two civilians bathing in Vallakkulam, including a 40 year-old woman, were missing, civilian sources said. The main road between Nanattan and Vankalai remains cut and soldiers have surrounded the area which remains tense.

2 SLN troopers killed in Claymore attack in Kayts

SLA soldiers open fire at civilian bus, 1 dead, 4 missing

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers opened fire on a mini bus killing it's civilian driver at Kanakampuliyady junction Monday around 7:15 p.m. The fate of at least four passengers is not known. Residents, who heard gunfire and screaming from the vehicle, expressed fear that all inside the bus were killed and the traces removed from the attack site. SLA sources on Monday claimed that four persons had run away from the bus.

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) troopers gunned down a youth and another was reported killed in a blast that took place around 7:30 a.m., Monday, when SLA soldiers detected a Claymore attack on Thivu Road in Vantharumoolai, police said. SLA sources have claimed that the youths killed were attackers. An SLA soldier was wounded. An ambush on an SLA patrol was also reported at 10:30 a.m. at 18th Mile Post on Batticaloa - Valaichenai Road, no casulties were reported.

Two Tamil civilians were killed in the LTTE controlled area in Mannar district Saturday afternoon around 2.30 p.m., when their motorbike hit a claymore mine fixed in a tree by Deep Penetration Unit of the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) and collaborating paramilitaries. They were traveling from Pandivirichchan to Aandankulam to their worksite where they were employed as masons, sources said.

Houses burn, as Tamil villagers flee in Muttur

Fourteen houses, eight shops, one tractor, five two-wheel tractors, three motorbikes belonging to Tamil people in Menkamam and adjacent Tamil villages in Seruvila division were burnt down by Sinhala thugs following the two claymore mine attacks on Sri Lanka government forces Friday morning and afternoon. Sinhala mobs forcibly entered Tamil houses in these villages, ransacked the houses and looted jewellery from Tamil women. Hundreds of Tamil families have started fleeing for safety seeking refuge elsewhere, sources from Killiveddy said.

Man killed in Vauniya claymore explosion

A businessman from Vavuniya was killed in a claymore explosion at 9.30 a.m. Friday morning, LTTE Political Office in Vavuniya said. Mr M Kandasamy, a trader in Palmyrah and Coconut products, and a father of six children, was killed in the jungle area between Puthur and Navvi villages in Vavuniya North, according to sources.
