Students of Thirunelvely Muthuthamby Vidiyalayam Tuesday commenced a boycott campaign demanding the Palaly English Teachers' Training College now functioning in
their school buildings since 1990 should be shifted immediately. The training college had been displaced in the 1990 operation by the Sri Lanka Army from its own buildings located in Palaly, which comes under the high security zone of the SLA, sources said.
Students of the Muthuthamby Vidiyalayam said they have been deprived of their basic facilities in their school as Palaly English Teachers Training College has occupied several buildings of the school, sources said. Students have appealed to authorities concerned to shift the Palaly English Teachers Training College to another suitable site allowing them to continue their education, sources said. Education authorities are now in quandary to find an alternate site to house the Palaly English Teachers' Training College until the original site of the institution is released by the SLA, the sources said.
