LTTE Constitutional Affairs Committee meet in Dublin

A delegation of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), led by the head of its Political Wing, Mr. S.P. Thamilchelvan, is meeting in Dublin, Ireland, with legal experts from the Tamil diaspora who took part in the Paris discussions in early September to finalize the LTTE's proposals for an Interim Administration for the Northeast, sources in the Vanni said.

This meeting of the Constitutional Affairs Committee of the LTTE was preceded by a forum where rehabilitation, reconstruction and economic development issues were discussed with several Tamil experts from the diaspora, the sources said.

The LTTE delegation includes Col. Karuna, senior commander for the eastern region, and Mr. Pulithevan, the secretary general of the LTTE's peace secretariat.

The Constitutional affairs committee includes Mr. V. Rudrakumaran, an attorney based in New York, U.S., and Mr. Siva Pasupathy, former Attorney General of Sri Lanka.

The meeting is being held at the Glencree Center for Reconciliation in Dublin. The Centre's Chief Executive, Mr. Ian White, and Programme Coordinator Mr. Sean O'Boyle welcomed the LTTE delegation and inaugurated the meeting, sources said.

Later this week, the Constitutional Affairs Committee will be meeting with international experts from Canada and Ireland for discussions on global issues that will provide additional perspectives on the Sri Lankan conflict.
