Hindus celebrate Deepavali[TamilNet, Thursday, 23 October 2003, 17:05 GMT]Hindus in Colombo celebrated the Deepavali Festival, the festival of lights, at the New Kathiresan hall in Bambalapitiya Thursday.
Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe, Opposition leader Mahinda Rajapaksa, Mass Communication Minister Imtiasz Bakeer Marker, Parliamentary Affairs minister A.H.M. Azwar, Interior Minister John Amarathunga and Hindu Religious affairs Minister T. Maheswaran participated at the function in Bambalapitiya. Tamil National Alliance Parliamentarian from the Jaffna district, N.Raviraj, Jantha Vimukthi Peramuna Parliamentarians Chandasekaran and Vijitha Herath, and Tamil Parliamentarian D. Siddharthan also attended.
