HRC to conduct workshop for Thamil Eelam judiciary

The Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission (HRC) is to conduct a workshop Friday on international human rights law for judges of the Thamil Eelam judiciary in the Liberation Tigers-held Kilinochchi, Jaffna regional HRC sources said.

The one-day workshop will be held at the Thamil Eelam court complex in Kilinochchi, Vanni sources said.

This is the first time the HRC in Sri Lanka is to hold a workshop for the Thamil Eelam judiciary in the Liberation Tigers held areas in the northeast province, sources said.

HRC officials Messrs. Senaka Dissanayake and Ruwan Chandrasekara are to address the workshop, HRC sources said.

Last week the HRC conducted a workshop for Sri Lankan judges in the Jaffna district, sources said.
