STF, LTTE meet in Amparai

Sri Lanka’s Special Task Force (STF) officials and political wing leaders of the Liberation Tigers in the east of the island met at the local office of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) at Akkaraipattu in the Amparai, around 10 a.m., Saturday.
The LTTE delegation comprised, among the others, the organisation’s political wing head for Batti-Amparai District, Mr.E. Kausalyan, political wing leader for Ampra District Vava and his deputy Kuyilinpan. STF delegation was led by Police Commissioner for Amparai district, Uppul Seneviratne. The LTTE and STF delegations agreed that similar meetings are vital to maintain good relationship between both sides and to discuss problems faced by the local people. The LTTE delegation reiterated the organisation’s commitment to the cease-fire agreement signed with Government of Sri Lanka. The STF assured that the LTTE’s political wing members will not be prevented from doing political work in areas controlled by the security forces.
