SLA tank destroyed - Radio

The Voice of Tigers said in their night broadcast that a main battle tank of the SLA was completely destroyed yesterday in the Olumadu area, east of Mankulam, when it was hit mortar fire from the positions of the Liberation Tigers.

The radio said that a bulldozer had tried to pull the MBT to safety when it was first hit and disabled by LTTE's mortar fire.

While the SLA was trying to save the MBT, the LTTE had fired mortars again completely destroying it said the radio.

It also said that the Tigers had ambushed a SLA patrol in the Sinhala village of Thambinna near the border of the Batticaloa district yesterday.

Three soldiers were killed in the attack and several weapons were removed by the Tigers from the army patrol said the VOT.
