SLN blocks TNA candidates from campaigning in Jaffna islets

Lead candidate for Tamil National Alliance (TNA) in Jaffna district, Mavai Senathirajah, complained Friday to the Elections Commissioner that the Sri Lanka Navy soldiers are blocking TNA candidates and their supporter to carryout election campaign in Jaffna islets, local media from Jaffna reported.

Mr. Senathirajah said that candidate Sri Kantha and he were prevented from travelling to Mandaitivu to attend a meeting in support of TNA candidates.

He requested the Commissioner to take inform this incident to the Defence Ministry officials and to take immediate steps to ensure that incidents such as this will not occur in the future, local reports further said.
