High polling in clustered booths for Killinochchi voters

High polling was recorded in the clustered polling stations located in the Muhamalai area for voters residing in the LTTE controlled Killinochchi district and villages in the Vadamaradchchi east division in the Jaffna district. Around noon, sixty percent of the voters have voted in the sixty two polling stations, 30 for Killinochchi district voters and 32 for Vadamaradchchi east division voters in the LTTE held areas, election department sources said.
About 60,600 registered voters in the LTTE held Killinochchi district and
Vadamaradchchi east division in the Jaffna district are eligible for
exercise their franchise, sources said The districts of Killinochchi and Jaffna form the Jaffna electoral
district, sources said. In some polling stations election agents of the paramilitary group Eelam
Peoples Democratic Party (EPDP) raised objections when voters went there to
cast their votes, which resulted in the arguments between the EPDPers and
election officials. Later EPDP polling agents withdrew from those polling
stations, sources in Muhamalai said. In the other parts of the Jaffna electoral district under the
government-controlled areas more than fifty percent of voters completed their voting by two p.m., election department sources said.
