Northern Muslims for Norwegian facilitation

The United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA), which was voted to power at the general elections on April 2, should continue the peace process with the facilitation of the Norwegian government, said the Forum for Northern Muslim Rights (FNMR) in a statement released Friday.
FNMR General Secretary Moulavi K.Subiyan said in the statement that Norway has the ability to bring the Government of Sri Lanka and the Liberation
Tigers of Tamil Eelam to the negotiating table to evolve a permanent political solution to the ethnic problem of the country. A solution to the ethnic problem could be found through negotiation and not through war and the parties concerned should remember it. The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna should abandon its hard-line stand on the ethnic question
and should help the government to hold talks with the LTTE alone, said the FNMR in its statement.
