All TNA parliamentarians to visit Kilinochchi Friday
[TamilNet, Wednesday, 14 April 2004, 15:01 GMT]
All the twenty-two Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarians are expected to meet the political head of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), Mr.S.P.Thamilchelvan, Friday in Kilinochchi, sources in the Vanni said Wednesday.
The TNA has 20 MPs elected directly and an additional two national list MPs. The 22 MPs will meet first on Friday morning in Colombo and from there they will proceed to
Kilinochchi the same day, TNA sources said. The 5 TNA parliamentarians of the Batticaloa district have already arrived in Colombo to attend Friday's meeting. The defeat of the renegade commander Karuna in the military operation launched by the LTTE has enabled the five eastern parliamentarians to move freely without any restrictions from Batticaloa to Colombo and elsewhere, Tamil sources said. TNA's parliamentary group leader, Mr.R.Sampanthan, is to preside over the meeting in Colombo. They will discuss in detail the proposed strategy to be adopted on the first day when the new parliament meets on April 22 to elect a Speaker, the sources said.
