Amparai Tamils praised for rejecting regionalism

Kanagasabai Pathmanathan, the Tamil National Alliance MP for Digamadulla (Amparai) district, in a memorandum released to the Tamil people of his district, praised the Amparai Tamil people for rejecting regionalism and showing the international community that Liberation Tigers are the undisputed leaders of the Tamil people, local daily Thamil Alai reported.
Mr.Pathmanathan further thanked the people for selecting him as their Member of Parliament and "vowed to work relentlessly to improve the welfare of his people." He asked for co-operation from intellectuals, leaders of civil society and the public to work towards rebuilding the affected social, educational and economic infrastructure of the district. Meanwhile, Batticaloa TNA MP, S.Jeyananthamoorthy Thursday visited the displaced people in Vakarai region and took measures to have two weeks worth of rations distributed to them, local reports said. He directed the Pradeshya Sabha Secretary to ensure timely delivery of the rations after inspecting the dry rations stock in the Vakari Multi Purpose Cooperative Society (MPCS), report said. He also visited the residence of Mr.Velmurugu, the civilian who was killed during the recent fighting, and expressed his condolences to this family.
