School uniforms not supplied to Jaffna students

Students in the Jaffna district government schools have not received their free uniforms supplied by the line Ministry of Education even after the second term of academic year has begun. According to the Education Ministry in Colombo, all students should get their uniforms in the beginning of the year,
education sources said.
The Jaffna regional office of the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka has
brought this matter to the notice of the Regional Education Office in
Jaffna, sources said. Jaffna regional education department said Wednesday it has not received free uniform clothes to supply to students of the peninsula till the end of the first term. Jaffna HRC has taken up this matter with the education
authorities on receipt of complaints received from parents, sources said Students in other parts of the country have been supplied with free school uniforms in time for the beginning of the year, sources said.
