300 Tamils rounded up in Dehiwela

Sri Lankan army and Police launched a joint operation in the early hours of the morning today in Dehiwela, a large suburb of Colombo, to screen Tamils living in the area.

More than three hundred Tamils were taken to the

Bellangwila Buddhist temple for screening.

Very few were released until 9 a.m.

This is the first operation in the city of this kind said Police sources in Colombo.
