GA takes steps to maintain law and order in Jaffna

The Jaffna District Government Agent Mr.S.Pathmanathan has instructed the Divisional Secretaries in the peninsula to take immediate steps to maintain law and order in their areas by holding talks with police officers of the respective areas, district secretariat sources said.
The Government Agent has taken this steps following spate of complaints that the law and order situation in Jaffna district has been deteriorating. The Government Agent held a conference on June 1st with the police officers and divisional secretaries in this regard, sources said. The Government Agent Mr.S.Pathmanathan has advised Divisional Secretaries to obtain the services of Grama Niladhari officers (village level officers) to maintain law and order in the village level, sources said. Mr.Pathmanathan has asked all Divisional Secretaries to establish village level reconciliation boards which has been approved by the central government, sources said.
