Sentry posts attacked

The Liberation Tigers launched a surprise raid on the sentries ahead of the Razeek group's camp in the heart of Batticaloa town in the early hours of the morning today around 1.30 a.m. The Razeek group is a much dreaded paramilitary outfit operating under the Sri Lankan army.

A senior member of the group said that the Tigers had come across the lagoon after firing Rocket Propelled Grenades on the sentries.

The LTTE had then fired shells on the camp. As the most of the group had gone on an operation against the LTTE last night, there were few in the camp when it was attacked.

There was little damage to the camp.
