The politburo of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) decided not to
readmit the two dissident parliamentarians Messrs Risard Badiudin and
Najeeb Abdul Majeed. SLMC politburo, which met Tuesday night, decided to
reject their appeal to rejoin the party, party sources said.
The SLMC politburo earlier sacked three dissident parliamentarians Messrs
Risard Badiudin (Vanni electoral district), Najeeb Abdul Majeed
(Trincomalee electoral district) and Mr. Hussain Baila (national list) and
leading activist of Mr.Inamullah few weeks ago for contravening party
discipline and working against the leadership of the party, sources said. Two dissident parliamentarians thereafter sent their appeals to the party
high command to lift the expulsion and to readmit them in the party.
However majority of the politburo were not in favour of lifting the
expulsion, sources said. Meanwhile Mr. Risard Badiudin and Mr. Najeeb Abdul Majeed are expected to
go before courts challenging the expulsion from the SLMC, sources close to
them said.
