Kalmunai Rotary Club elects Tamil woman as President

Dr Ms Pushpalatha Loganathan became the first Rotary Club President in the northeast province. She was elected as the new President of Kalmunai
Rotary Club in the Amparai district at an event held last week with the
former Rotary District Governor Mr. N.Pathmanathan as the chief guest,
sources said.
Mr.Pathmanathan, former Deputy Secretary of Treasury said at the
ceremony that the first Rotary Club in the northeast province
was founded sixty years ago in Jaffna and this was the first time a Tamil
woman has been elected President of a Rotary Club in the province. Mr. Pathmanathan further said the Rotary Movement has been working for the better future people who need help. He appealed to the Rotarians to work for the poor people to uplift their
living standards. Amparai District Secretary Mr.H.M.Herat Abeyaweera participated as the
honorary guest.
