South African Tamil activist dies

The Tamil Co-ordinating Committee and International Centre for Performing Arts Sunday jointly hosted a memorial tribute to Mr. Seeniappah Padmanathan, who passed away on 27th June in South Africa. Mr. S. Padmanathan was the Director of the Tamil Co-ordinating Committee, a promoter of Carnatic Music and a Social & Welfare Worker, according to sources in South Africa.

Speakers from different organisations Mr. S. Padmanathan belonged to joined in paying the tribute.

Highlights of his work in the TCC (SA) included launching of the English publication, Tamil Mirror.

He was appointed as the co-ordinator of the South African branch of the Tamil co-ordinating committee and LTTE representative in South Africa in 1999.
