Computer training classes opened in Trinco villages

London-based T.R.Tec in collaboration with Trincomalee IT Tech Wednesday inaugurated two computer-training centres in Nilaveli and Tampalakamam villages in the Trincomalee district. "These training centres are opened in the northeast under a computer literacy awareness programme,"said Mr.S.Thilak, currently the Director of Economic Development addressing meetings at Nilaveli and Tampalakamam, which followed the opening of the centres and classes.

As a first step under this programme computer training would be provided to five thousand students in fifty schools located in villages in the northeast province," said Mr.Thilak. Two more computer-training centres would be opened on Thursday in the villages Kattaiparichchan and Killiveddy in Muttur division. More training centres would be organized in the districts of Batticaloa, Amparai, Mullaitivu and Mannar in due course, Mr.Thilak said. The inaugural event in Nilaveli was held at Nilaveli Tamil Maha Vidiyalayam presided by its Principal Mr.C.Mathialagan. Mr.Wijeyadeva, a member of the London Tech Institute declared open the Nilaveli centre where one hundred
students had been enrolled for basic computer training, sources said. TECH
Institute Director Mr.M.Suntheramoorthy lit the traditional oil lamp. Tampalakamam centre was declared open by Mr.M.Suntheramoorthy at an event
held at Tampalakamam Athikoneswara Maha Vidiyalayam and presided by
Principal Mr.K. Selvanayagam. S.Thilak, M.Suntharamoorthy and
Mr.Wijeyadeva lit the traditional oil lamp. Mr.K. Shankar, IT Centre head,
inaugurated the first computer class for students. Trincomalee Computer Centre and Economic Development Organization office
are scheduled to be opened in Trincomalee on Friday morning.
