The United National Party (UNP) will hold a mass demonstration in Colombo on September 24, Friday, to protest against the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Government. UNP MPs Mr. Gamini Lokuge and Dr. Rajitha Senaratne told a press conference in Colombo Tuesday, that the protest would be the first step to topple the UPFA Government, which has not fulfilled its promises to the people.
The main slogans of the mass protest would be the rising cost-of-living, increase of salaries and solution to the national problem, the opposition MPs said. However Opposition Leader and head of the UNP, Ranil Wickremasinghe and Deputy Leaders would not be participating in the demo which is expected to attract around 25,000 protesters, according to the UNP MPs.
