TRO to assist war affected families in Muttur east

Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO) has launched a project on
experimental basis to provide livelihood development assistance to families
affected by the war in the Muttur east village in the Trincomalee district.
The inaugural event was held at Chenaiyoor Central College last weekend and TRO's Trincomalee District Director Mr. Kiruba and
LTTE's Trincomalee district political head Mr.C. Elilan participated in the event.
Identified beneficiaries attended the event. All development assistance
would be provided through the Social-Economic Development Bank (SCDB), TRO officials said. Saving accounts in the names of beneficiaries were opened in the SCDB on
the inaugural day of the project, sources said About 100 million Sri Lankan rupees would be channeled through the SEDB to the beneficiaries to start income generating self-employment projects in
their villages. Assistance provided under this scheme includes bullock carts, fishing boats and other implements needed for the livelihood development, TRO sources said.
