Children's Day celebrated in Kilinochchi

Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO) in Kilinochchi organized several pre-schools in Vanni to jointly celebrate the International Children' Day in Kilinochchi Friday sources said. Several elderly citizens of the area were also felicitated during the ceremony.

A parade by children led by musicians playing Nadaswaram and Thavil took place at 11 am from Chandran Garden to Kilinochchi District Cultural Center.

Kilinochchi district UNICEF representative Tor Emaus and Deputy Head of LTTE Political Wing, Mr.Thangan lit the ceremonial lamp. Deputy Head of LTTE Police, Mr.Mathavan hoisted the Tamil Eelam National Flag. Mr. Reagan then unfurled the TRO flag. Mr.Sivanathan, head of Pre-School Education Organization, hoisted the flag of his organization.



Teachers of different pre-schools then hoisted the flags of their schools.

Head of LTTE Women's Political Wing, Thamilini and Head of NGO Consortium, Mr.Ganesapillai, lit the common flame of sacrifice.

Karaichi North Head of Development Organization, Ms Thavaputhalvi gave the welcome speech. This was followed by dances by the pre-school children.

UNICEF officials, Deputy Head of Women's Political Wing, and Kilinochchi District LTTE Head of Polical Wing, Kandeepan spoke.
