Sri Lanka Army soldiers, police personnel and Sinhala home guards severely assaulted a group of Tamil youths Friday evening at Anpuvallipuram junction, in Trincomalee, injuring two of them. The injured youths have been admitted at the Trincomalee general hospital, sources said.
Mr.S.Elilan, Trincomalee district political head of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) has lodged a complaint with the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) in Trincomalee. He urged the cease-fire monitors to immediately inquire into the incident and to ensure security to Tamils, SLMM sources said. Mr.Elilan later said the attack on innocent Tamils Friday evening was a part of a plot by anti-peace elements to create chaos in Trincomalee district and SLMM should take immediate steps to stop this type of attacks in the future by the Sri Lanka government security forces, the sources said.
