A Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentary delegation is to meet
Mahanayake Theras of Malwatte Chapter and Asgiriya Chapter on Monday to brief them on the current situation of the stalled peace process and to solicit their support for the establishment of the Interim Self
Government Authority (ISGA) proposals of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil
Eelam, political sources said.
TNA leaders are expected to stress to the Buddhist prelates that the
establishment of the ISGA in the northeast would pave the way to find a just and fair permanent political resolution satisfying the legitimate political aspirations of Tamil speaking people, political sources said. This is the first time TNA leaders are to meet leading Buddhist prelates in Sri Lanka to seek their support for a political resolution to the ethnic conflict, political sources said The TNA delegation is expected to point out to the Buddhist prelates that all attempts made by Tamil political leaders in past by signing pacts with Sinhala political leadership and were later thwarted by chauvinist elements for political gains, sources said.
