Police massed up in Mannar for Victor's Day

Hundreds of people marched through Mannar town Tuesday evening for the remembrance day of senior Liberation Tigers commander Victor (Mr. Marcelin Fuselus). More than two thousand policemen were massed up in the town during the remembrance march and the meeting that followed on the Mannar public grounds. A large number of Police were brought from outside Mannar district to beef up deployments in the town Tuesday, residents said.
Mr. S. Thangan, deputy head of the LTTE's political division raised the Thamil Eelam flag. Commander Victor's father lit flame of sacrifice. Vanni district Tamil National Alliance MPs Mr.Sivaskthi Anandan,Mr.Vino Noharathalingam and Mr. Selvam Adaikalanathan addressed the meeting. LTTE commander Victor was killed in battle with Sri Lankan armed forces in Adampan in mainland Mannar on 12 October 1986. He was from Panangkattukottil, a coastal village on the outskirts of Mannar town.
