Two more policemen identified in HR official assault

Jaffna human rights officials Thursday identified two more policemen who
were among a group that assaulted them on 27 September when they went to inquire about an arrest Tamil youth. Mr.Ruwan
Chandrasekara, regional co-ordinator of Human Rights Commission of Sri
Lanka (HRCSL) and his asscoiate Mr.S.Feroz identified two
policemen in connection with the incident previously on Wednesday.
The second day of identification parade continued Thursday and both policemen identified Thursday are in the rank of sergeant. The suspects Mr.Asela and Mr.Ariyasinghe, made applications to court that
they should be allowed to leave Jaffna peninsula. The Magistrate
Mr.R.T.Viknarajah allowed the application, the legal sources said. Both policemen were allowed bail with a Police Officer in the rank of an
Inspector as surety signing a bond in a sum of fifteen thousand rupees. The magistrate put off the further inquiry for October 18th.
