The Tigers hit two SLA camps in the east and violent incidents continue in Jaffna.

Incidents make Jaffna nervous

Incidents of killings, confrontations and uncertainty continue in the Jaffna peninsula.

The headless body of a young woman with a breast slashed was washed ashore on the Kudaarappu beach in Nagar Kovil last Sunday Oct 12.

The body was dressed only in red underwear. As the body had begun to decompose soon after it was washed ashore, the people of Kudaarappu in Nagar Kovil buried it immediately.

On Tuesday Oct 14, a Sri Lankan soldier and three civilians were wounded in a grenade blast near the main bus stand in Jaffna town.

A man was shot dead at Navaanthurai that day. The person was not identified and the local unit of the Sri Lankan army handed over the body to the Jaffna hospital.

The body of a man with his hands tied was found the same day in Meeasalai. It was later identified as that of a local mechanic.

A Sri Lankan army route clearing patrol on the Kodikamam road near Koilaamanai was shot at by a small group of Liberation Tigers on Monday Oct.13.

The SLA troops fired indiscriminately in the area following the attack.

A bullet ripped through the cheeks of a five year old boy who was playing in the garden of a house a kilometer from the scene at Koilaamanai.

Tigers shell two SLA camps in Batticaloa

The Liberation Tigers launched another long range mortar attack on two Sri Lankan army camps in the Batticaloa district today.

A captain and a soldier were killed in the attack on the Morakkottanchenai camp on the Batticaloa Valaichenai road.

No deaths were confirmed in the Sri Lankan army camp at Sithandy which came under simultaneous attack.

The Sithandy camp is located on the Batticaloa Valaichenai road three miles south of Morakkottanchenai.

Initial reports say that fourteen civilians were wounded and two women were killed in the attack.

All Sri Lankan army camps on the Batticaloa Valaichenai road are located in heart of densely populated Tamil villages.

These poorly defended SLA camps ensure their protection in this manner.

The Morakkottanchenai camp of the SLA occupies the local school which has been compelled to function in the adjacent compound.
