UNP protests against UPFA's budget

Hundreds of supporters of United National Party (UNP) and many of its senior parliamentarians held a protest march against the Sri Lanka's budget, the price increases of essential goods and the increase of an hour in the working day, sources from Colombo said. The protest march started from Rajagiriya junction and moved towards the parliament square.
UNP parliamentarians Mr. Ravi Karunanayaka, Mr. Rajitha Senaratna and Mr. Mahinda Samarasinga and many parliamentarians were seen in the protest campaign. The marchers dispersed at the parliament square after shouting slogans against the Sri Lanka Government at the square, sources said. United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA)'s maiden budget passed Saturday evening with a majority of 34 votes, 126 parliamentarians voting for and 92 against it. Only 218 members of 225 were present in parliament at the time of voting.
