Confused reports emerged Saturday about the reported missing of seven Jaffna Tamil youths who went to Colombo in a vehicle last week to receive a relative who was scheduled to return from abroad. Meanwhile parents of these youths have complained to the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) to take steps to trace their sons in Colombo, civil sources said.
One report said all the seven youths, natives of Munai village in Point Pedro missing in Colombo but another report said they were arrested by the Sri Lanka Navy and handed over to the Colombo police when they in their vehicle had accidentally strayed into the Colombo harbour area which is declared high security zone, sources said. However the Colombo Police had sent a message to the army camp which is located in Munai in Point Pedro that the seven youths reported missing had been remanded in Welikada prison on the orders of a Magistrate in Colombo for allegedly entering prohibited area, sources said.
