SLA operation in Vadamaradchi East

Eight SLA soldiers were killed and seven were wounded in three seperate attaks by the LTTE in the northern Jaffna peninsula last week, said the Voice of Tigers radio. The LTTE suffered no casualties in these attacks, the radio said.
The Sri Lankan Army had advanced from its positions in Vallaipuram towards Ampan junction in Vadamaradchi east region in the Jaffna peninsula, yesterday noon, said local residents. However no fighting was reported. A group of 300 SLA soldiers advanced in two directions towards Ampan junction, one through Kandalkaddu and the other through Manalkaadu junction, they said The Tigers are expected to launch counter attacks if the SLA tried to advance futher, they said. Meanwhile the Sri Lankan Navy attacked coastal villages of Maamuani and Chempiyapattu in the Vadamaradchi east yesterday with canon and machin guns, damaged fishing nets, said sources.
