Grenade blast kills 1, wounds 14

Four SLA soldiers were injured in a grenade explosion in the Kodikamam Market this morning around 10.30 a.m. An old man identified as Krishnar Velayutham, 71 was killed and 10 other people were injured in the attack, said sources in Jaffna.
The injured SLA personel were admitted to the Palay military hospital in Jaffna. The injured civilians were taken to the Chavakachcheri and Jaffna Hospitals. The SLA in Jaffna is yet to comment about the attack. Meanwhile, the Voice of Tigers said in its night broadcast today that four SLA soldiers were injured in a grenade attak carried by the Liberation Tigers in Meesalai North in the Thenmaradchi sector of the Jaffna peninsula. A youth identified as Kandasamy Kabilakumar was injured in SLA's retaliatory fire, the radio said. Another civilian, Nallathambi Mylvaganam, 51, was assaulted by the SLA, it said.
