LTTE declares cease-fire for visit

The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) has declared a cease-fire on Wednesday and Thursday (6 and 7 May) as an expression of its support for the visit of United Nations Special Representative on Children in Armed Conflict Areas, Olara Otunnu, said Voice of Tigers (V0T) in its broadcast tonight.
This was announced by the Leader of the LTTE Velupillai Prabhakaran, in accordance with the request made by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and it was believed that the Sri Lanka Security Forces would follow suit, said the broadcast. Meanwhile the state run Radio Sri Lanka announced that Mr. Otunnu arrived in Sri Lanka today and would have discussions with the Sri Lanka President. He is expected to visit the refugee camp in the Northeast during his week long stay.
