The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) boycotted a meeting convened by Sri Lanka's President Ms Chandrika Kumaratunge to discuss the question oTsunami reconstruction, held at 11 a.m. today at the Presidential Secretariat, political sources in Colombo said.
TNA Parliamentarian, Joseph Prarajasingham said that a meeting to consider the question of reconstruction of houses in the Tsunami affected areas in the Batticaloa District, and that he was invited to participate in that meeting but he decided not to attend the meeting. "TNA firmly believes that a separate structure should be established to handle relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction activities in the North-east, and until progress is made in establishing this mechanism there is little use in TNA participating in any meetings with Ms Kumaratunge," Mr Parajasingham added.
