Military informant killed in Batticaloa

A military informant was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Aaraiyampathy, 7 kilometres south of Batticaloa, Sunday night around 11, Police said. He was living by the Special Task Force (STF) camp in Aaraiyampathy. He had escaped an attempt on his life four months ago, according Kattankudy Police.

The military informant was identified as Mr. S. Pathmanathan, said Mr.W.J Herath, Officer In Charge of Kattankudy Police.

The gunman had taken him away from his home and shot him in Maavilangaimunai, on the outskirts of the village.

Three empty rounds were found at the scene of the murder, Police said.
