Czech NGO donates tractors to Trinco UC

"People In Need (PIN)," a non-governmental organization from Czech Republic, Wednesday donated three tractors with trailers worth Rs 2.6m to the Trincomalee Urban Council for garbage and tsunami debris removal, at an event held Wednesday evening in the UC premises, sources said.
 Mr.Petr Base, Head of Mission for PIN in Sri Lanka handed over the keys of the tractors to Mr.S.Vipulanandan, Secretary of the Trincomalee Urban Council (UC). Mr.P.Balasubramaniam, Regional Assistant Commissioner of Local Government
in Trincomalee district also participated, sources said.

PIN earlier gave five hundred and fifty thousand rupees to the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to repair the damaged street lamps by tsunami disaster within the administrative limit of the Trincomalee UC, sources said. PIN has also promised to supply forty hand carts to the UC to allow removal of garbage from small lanes and to improve the dumping
ground which is located at Kanniya, where the UC health department workers dump the refuse and garbage collected in the town daily, sources said. Mr.Priyantha Perera, Director of the VVK Machinery and
Equipments Pvt Ltd, which supplied the tractors and trailers to PIN, was also present at the event.
