Grenade attack on Karaithivu EPDP

Unidentified persons lobbed a grenade on the EPDP office in Karaithivu, 45 kilometres south of Batticaloa Monday night around 8, Police said. The building, which is located by the Special Task Force (STF) camp at Karaithivu Junction, was slightly damaged in the explosion, according to EPDP sources. EPDP is a close ally of Sri Lanka’s President Chandrika Kumaratunga.

Kalmunai Police said that a No-87 type grenade was used in the attack.

The person who lobbed the grenade got away, according to the Police.
