SLA soldier killed in Thenmaradchi

One SLA soldier was killed and three others were wounded, yesterday at 7.00 a.m., in Usan in the Thenmaradchi sector of the Jaffna peninsula, when the Liberation Tigers activated a claymore mine, said a press statement issued by the Sri Lankan Army Head Quarters in Palay today.

The Thenmaradchi sector has become increasingly vulnerable to LTTE infiltration, said SLA sources.

They claim that small groups have entered the area from the Vanni across the Jaffna lagoon and that other groups operate from the Vadamaradchi East, which is contiguous with Thenmaradchi.

Vadamaradchi East is not under the control of the SLA.
