New restrictions on Vadamaradchi East

The Sri Lankan Army had imposed severe restrictions on taking notebooks, pens and other writing materials into Vadmaradchi east since May 6. Each person is allowed to take only two pens and one notebook through the SLA check point at Vallipuram.

School children and teachers are affected by this latest restriction on the Vadamaradchi East, said the TamilNet correspondent in Jaffna.

Meanwhile, Manthikai hospital is running short of medicines, said hospital official.

"There was only shortage of saline two weeks ago, but now most of the medicines have been used up at the hospital" he said.

"Nearly 600 patients are treated daily at the OPD and there are about 75 patients getting treatment in the wards, he said further.

Meanwhile K, Theiventhiram, Mirusuvil North was arrested by the Sri Lankan Army soldiers at the Eluthumadduval check post,in the Thenmaradchi sector on May 7. He is a father of seven children.
