The politburo of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), a major constituent of the United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) government is scheduled to meet Thursday night to take several important decisions regarding the latest political development following the walk out of the Cabinet meeting
by JVP ministers Wednesday night, political sources said.
JVP ministers walked out of the cabinet meeting, as they were not given advance notice of the proposal of restructuring the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB). The CEB restructure proposal was tabled by the Minister concerned at about 7 p.m. and wanted the cabinet to take a decision within
two hours, said Minister Mr.Anura Kumara Dissanayake addressing a press briefing Thursday at the parliamentary complex. The JVP will not support the restructure of the CEB by dividing it to nine components, said Mr.Anura Kumara Dissanayake. JVP politburo is expected to discuss the current political situation and to take a decision whether to boycott the cabinet meeting or to resign from the ministerial portfolios, political sources said.
