NECORD provides loans to assist small businesses

Asian Development Bank (ADB) funded North East Community Restoration Development (NECORD) awarded loans under the Social Development scheme to increase the earning potential of small scale entrepreneurs at an event held at the Kovil Vayal village in Pachchilaipalli district in Kilinochchi Thursday at 3.30 pm sources from Kilinochchi said. Kvoil Vayal is located 2 km from the Iyakachchi junction on A9 highway.

The Social Development scheme is being implemented by the Tamil Rehabiliatation Organization, an NGO which works exclusively in the NorthEast.

Mr Ravikanth, NECORD planning co-ordinator in Kilinochchi presided the event. Kovil Vayal Grama Sevaka K Vallipuram and Pachchilaipalli Development Coordinator Mr Asokumar lit the ceremonial lamp at the beginning of the event.

LTTE Political head of Iyakkachi raised the Tamil National flag.

Special guests at the event, including Mr Ravikanth, awarded the checks to the loan recipients.

P Kailayapillai, president of the Social Economic Development Unit spoke on the critical role being played by the small businesses in the economic development of the NorthEast. Ms Indradevi, secretary to the Social Economic Development Unit concluded the event with vote of thanks.
