German NGO to fund Anbu Illam rehabilitation

Malteser, a German non-governmental organization (NGO) has agreed to provide US $30K for the rehabilitation of "Anbu Illam (House of Love)," a children's home in Trincomalee that gives shelterto children who lost their parents in the war, sources in Trincomalee said.
Maltesar signed an agreement with Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO) which administers the children's home in an event held recently in the office of the Anbu Illam. Mr.C.Kumarakuruparan, Trincomalee District Deputy Director of the TRO signed the agreement on behalf of the TRO, sources said Mr.Lawrence Oduma, Country Director Sri Lanka for Malteser, Mr.Roland
Hansen, Head of Asia Desk, Dr.Jurgen Clemens, Desk Officer Sri Lanka, Ms
Maren Paech, Co-ordinator Partner Project Sri Lanka, Mr.Norbert Haeberlin,
Mental Health Co-ordinator Sri Lanka and Mr.K.Balendran, TRO Consultant in
Colombo participated in the signing event, sources said. The funds will be used to to complete the construction of existing building facilities, renovating
the playground for children and to improve the living standard of these
children by providing learning facilities and conducting vocational
training, TRO sources said. Anbu Illam, established in 1985, is one of thirteen Children's Homes run by the TRO.
