Body found in Eastern University grounds

The body of a man shot in the head was found dumped in grounds of the Eastern University at Vanthaarumoolai, 18 kilometres north of Batticaloa town around 7 a.m. Friday morning, Police said. A note left behind by the assassins stated that he was a LTTE member from Uppuveli in the Trincomalee district, they said.

The person was identified as Vimalenthiran Manojkumar, about 25 years, the police said.

Dharmasena Ratnayake, OIC Eravur came to the spot and conducted initial investigations.

The body was then taken to the Chenkaladi hospital. Police are conducting further investigations.
