Norway funds Mannar Educational Resource Center

An Educational Resource Center built under Operation Day's Work (ODW) project supported by Develpment funds from the Norwegian Government, was opened in Aandankulam Roman Catholic School in Mannar Friday, sources in Mannar said. ODW project is administered by the Rural Economic, Education Research and Development Organization (REERDO) branch of the Tamil Rehabilitation Organization, an NGO registered with the Government of Sri Lanka.
Director of REERDO, Mr S Selvaraj presided the event.
LTTE Commander Bhaskaran hoisted the Tamil Eelam flag. Madhu region Deputy Commissioner of Education, Mr Jesudasan, unveiled the name board. Mr Ranjan Lala from the LTTE's Planning and Development Secretariat (PDS) ceremonially opened the building. Rev. Father Siman opened the Science Laboratory that was part of the Resource center, sources said. Mr Lala during his address said, "Education is given first priority in all Tamil homes. No one take this away. We encourage REERDO to support building more resource centers in other deprived schools and Liberation Tigers will provide all necessary support." Mr Selvaraj, School Principal Mr Visvarajah, Mr Jesudasan, TRO's Mannar district co-ordinator Mr Kesavan also spoke.
