Meetings with US officials cordial, constructive and positive- Gajendrakumar

Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Member of Parliament (MP) for Jaffna district, Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam, who concluded Saturday his three week tour of the United States meeting several officials of the United States Government and Think Tanks, said he was pleased with the exchanges, and the meetings were "cordial, constructive and positive."
 Mr Ponnambalam met with Senior officials of the US State Department, several U.S Congressmen, and Senior staff of US Senators. He also met with staff of Center for Strategic and International Studies, a Washington DC think tank and spoke on "Democracy and Development," at a meeting organized by the National Advisory Council of South Asia in Washington D.C. Gajendrakumar said that he was pleased with the largely positive exchanges he had with US officials who he said "appeared to be well aware of the situation in Sri Lanka." During the three weeks Gajendrakumar also met with the Tamil diaspora in several states, briefed them on the situation in Sri Lanka and advised the groups on the need to continue political activity in the US. Mr Ponnambalam departed to Sri Lanka Sunday morning from Dulles International Airport in Washington D.C.
